What Honeywell currently lists

Honeywell's Silent Knight software/firmware page identifies HFSS version 8.1.0.11 as the current Honeywell Fire Software Suite and pairs it with 6000 Series firmware version 7.00.21. Honeywell notes that HFSS 8.1.0.11 is required for that firmware.

Changes in HFSS 8.1.0.11

Honeywell lists several changes, including support for firmware 7.0.0.21, support for upcoming 6808U, 6820U, IFP-300U, and IFP-1100U panel variants, single sign-on with other CLSS-connected tools, a longer offline token period, panel-conversion support, new product keys, and a report-generation repair.

Panel conversion tools

The current HFSS page says the software can support conversion paths including 6808 to 6808U, 6820 to 6820U, IFP-300 to IFP-300U / IFP-2100 / IFP-1100U, IFP-2100 to IFP-1100U, and FCP-300 to FCP-300U.

That is useful for migration planning, but it should not be treated as proof that every existing installation is a direct hardware swap. SLC devices, SBUS equipment, voice functions, network architecture, communicator requirements, listings, programming, and AHJ requirements still need to be checked for the actual project.

Which panels use HFSS?

Honeywell identifies HFSS as the programming software for the Silent Knight 6000 Series and specifically lists the 6700, 6808, 6820, and 6820EVS. Honeywell also notes that legacy 5000 Series systems should continue to use SKSS except when using the importer to convert a legacy database to a current panel.

Field takeaway

Before updating a customer panel, verify the existing panel firmware, back up the current database, use the HFSS version required by Honeywell, and review release notes. A firmware update is maintenance work on a life-safety system — not something to perform casually just because a newer version exists.
